Lush. Everyone loves this store for their pleasantly smelling bath bombs, massage bars, body scrubs and more. However, did you know how environmentally friendly and natural this store is? Once you enter the store you’re hit with this aroma of freshness and sweetness. There is a mix of wood, brick and tiles on the walls giving the allusion of a bathroom. With trendy music in the background as I look around I see mainly girls.

When I visited Lush (after being distracted by all the bath bombs) I talked to an employee about my research and she was extremely kind enough to explain everything, in detail about their social responsibilities. I first learned that all their products for this store is made here in Toronto. They are against animal testing so it’s refreshing to see a local brand who produces their products ethically. On the recyclable paper bags given they have their store claims. Their store claims include ; fighting animal testing, handmade, freshest cosmetics, 100% vegetarian, ethical buying and naked packaging. What they mean by naked packaging is that they sell packaging-free goods in their store. Packaging generates an enormous amount of waste, so they sell their bubble bars, conditioners, henna hair dyes and massage bars naked which saves so much waste.

When I asked the employee about their advertising, she said that they do not advertise much. It is more of people coming to their store, getting the full experience, and then spreading the word. However, with the increasing use of social media, they do have some advertisements online. On their websites you are able to buy products but more than that, they have a lot of posts on values. This includes articles on animal welfare, sustainability, and environmental conservation. From the research I received from online, talking to an employee, and observing the store myself, I can conclude that Lush is a brand that definity has many social responsibility and care to be ethically and environmentally conscious. Plus they have a lot of natural, cool stuff which is good for your own health so definitely check out Lush.
I did some research too that Lush is a cruelty-free and organic brand. They fight animal testing, provide fresh cosmetics, are 100% vegetarian, and all of their products are handmade. Lush sells a wide range of products from face masks to shampoo bars. They have trendy, yet different, products that you don’t see at normal stores. Lush also has excellent customer service. Walking into the store, the workers pretty much come running up to you, offering you testers of lotions, scrubs, and other fun products.
