Who has ever walked by Lush without walking in? I can say that I am not one of those people because the smell coming out of the store pulls me in every time. This is what they use to attract their customers into their stores. The smell along with their colourful advertisements that really make them stand out are the perfect combination to attract their target market. Although, after talking to one of the managers in the store, I was told that Lush never really used to focus on advertising in their earlier days. The word got around about their stores thanks to word of mouth. This is a good tactic because it attracts customers right away if people they trust are telling them about Lush’s products. But, thanks to the increase in social media use, Lush has started increasing their presence on several on several of their social media platforms. For example, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. This also helps them easily attract their target market. Their target market consists of young to middle aged women looking to improve their hair and skin using all natural products. Most of us walk into the Lush stores because we like how aesthetically pleasing they all look and because of how good they smell. However, most of us are unaware of all the positive things Lush stands for all the benefits of using their products. For instance, they fight against animal testing which is very nice to see because I can now feel good about buying items from Lush knowing that they are ethically produced.

On the recyclable paper bags given to hold the products, they have their store claims written on the back. These claims include: fighting animal testing, handmade, freshest cosmetics, 100% vegetarian, ethical buying, and naked packaging. When talking about naked packaging, they mean that they do not wrap or package any of their products. This is because they are fully aware of the extreme waste that is produced by the packaging used by most companies. They also advertise their humanitarian causes on all of their products proving that all their products are cruelty free. Lush also makes it a point to reuse their packaging when they can to reduce the number of bottles they use for their face masks, face washes, etc.
